Interesting debate taking place on social media regarding the accreditation of the world’s oldest golf clubs. As you would imagine the list compiled by an avid golf historian generated a lot of interest. Littered with Scottish representation here is the list as shared by Fraserburgh Golf Club on their Facebook page.
How long can clubs incorrectly run with the notion that they hold x position in the list? Take Royal Aberdeen and Crail for example. Both state across their marketing channels that they hold the title of the 6th and 7th oldest clubs respectively. It’s time for an clarity.
I conclude by saying I feel that the true age of golf in regions of Scotland lies yet undiscovered.
