Treasure Island Thought Up at Famous Open Championship Venue

This short video by Shane O’Donoghue, Golf Host for CNN and Fox shares the interesting past of an area of Scotland rich in golf history.

Fidra Island, visible along Scotland’s Golf Coast including Muirfield was the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous novel Treasure Island. It has been claimed that Stevenson based the map in the novel on the shape of Fidra.

Such folklore will likely be mentioned when the Scottish Open and the world’s best players tee it up at nearby Gullane prior to the 144th Open Championship in St Andrews this summer.
