Pre Open Championship Must Watches, Reads & Listens

On the eve of the 144th Open Championship I’ve compiled some new Old Course St Andrews video doing the rounds which will do much to whet the appetite.

The Open of 1995

The digital content produced by The Open has, from a consumer point of view been exemplary, with the exception and omission of podcasting of course. What I loved about their Youtube series ‘Open Moments’ is seeing the therate and emotion, both of which is encapsulated in Rocco Mediate’s putt from the Valley of Sin to force a play off with eventual Champion John Daly in 95′. While only 4 years old, I have no recollection of this however I find myself watching this over and over again. Could any other golf course in the world create a greater outpouring of emotion?

Bryan Bros v Road Hole

The Go Pro athletes, The Bryan Bros in conjunction with Visit Scotland came to town while on a whistle stop tour of Scotland. On a trip that included a visit to Loch Ness, Edinburgh Castle and Gleneagles the brothers in typical unconventional fashion took on the Road Hole 17th at the Old Course.

Rebuilding Hells Bunker

The St Andrews Links Trust, the organisation which oversees the management and running of the 7 golf courses in St Andrews and various retail outlets have ran their own series of videos ahead of the Open Championship. My personal favourite is the time-lapse of the famous Hell Bunker, in the heart of the par 5 fourteenth.
