New Glasgow Flight Good News For Visiting Canadian Golfers

An exciting new air route will make Scotland’s best golf courses feel that little bit closer for Canadian golfers this summer after carrier WestJet launched a new daily flight between Glasgow and Halifax, Canada.

The non-stop flight, which has a journey time of five hours 15 minutes, will fly daily until 24 October 2015. Passengers will be able to access connections to Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and 16 other cities in WestJet’s Canadian network.

“I’m sure it will help more golfers carry out their plans for their dream trip to the Home of Golf.”

Canadian golf journalist and Associate Publisher at Flagstick Golf explained what this means for Canadian golfers looking to travel to The Home of Golf,

Having WestJet offering direct flights from Halifax to Glasgow is significant for the Canadian golf market. Not just for those in Atlantic Canada but also for passengers taking advantage of connections from Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Hamilton and St. John’s, as well as same plane service from Toronto through Halifax.”

MacLeod continued, “WestJet is a popular carrier and this really makes travel to Scotland a lot more convenient from various parts of Canada. Golfers have been anticipating this since it was announced. Daily service and flights being offered late into October is also a real positive. I’m sure it will help more golfers carry out their plans for their dream trip to the Home of Golf.”

Some 4.7 million Canadians have Scottish ancestry, with 24% wanting to visit Scotland in search of their roots, many of which can lay claim to helping bring the game of golf to North American from Scotland. Needless to say the inaugural flight and iconic #TartanTail touching down at Glasgow Airport this morning will be the first of many sightings in months to come.
