This week Ru is joined by journalist Kevin Markham to relive his recent trip round Scotland’s new North Coast 500 route, Scotland’s equivalent to Route 66. Kevin’s post trip review in Golf Digest features plenty of his jaw-dropping imagery.

The main golf offering on the route sits to the east with courses such as Fortrose, Tain, Golspie, Brora and the world famous Royal Dornoch all falling within a 60 miles stretch of the 500. The other notable course on the route is the breathtaking but remote Durness on the far north of the Scottish mainland.

Kevin concludes by pointing out that the route is best enjoyed with time on your side and admitting that the North Coast 500 isn’t really conducive for golf enthusiasts after 36 holes a day. That said if a partner is looking to see the Scottish Highlands and you’re looking to throw in some golf along the way look no further than North Coast 500.
