Episode 117 – An Aussie’s 3-Week Scottish Golf Trip

On this week’s episode we catch-up with a podcast listener from Australia who embarked on a trip of a lifetime to play some of Scotland’s great courses in one three week golf trip.

When Rob Shakeshaft and friends flew across the world to play golf in Scotland they were always going to make the most of it and that they did. From island adventures to Islay and the remote southwest tip of Machrihanish to playing the Old Course, St Andrews and Muirfield, to drives thru the Scottish Highlands for the “perfect day” at Royal Dornoch, this trip had it all.

Thanks to Rob’s Instagram relive his incredible journey below:

Day 1 – Machrihanish Dunes

Day 2: Machrihanish Old – Twice!

Day 3 – Hidden Gem of Machrie

A Day at Muirfield

Had the privilege of playing at Muirfield Golf Course home of The Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, founded in 1744. It’s very old school, not quite up with social equality in the modern age but is catching up, there were 2 females playing just behind us which I was pleasantly surprised to see. Great game of singles golf in the morning, lunch (coat and tie required of course) then foursomes in the afternoon (2 players alternately hitting one ball). Weather was raining at the start and finish of the morning round and the rough was fearsome. If you managed to find your ball it was a struggle to rescue it. Fabulous day with great boys. @johnnyrenshaw71 @jamesprineas @robbie_prineas @darren_wynne #aussiesofinstagram #aussiesontour #scottishgolf #scottishgolftrip #scotland #golf #ila #whyiplaythisgame
